Lindsey Dalthorp
is a documentary photographer and print media artist based in Seattle, Washington. She grew up surrounded by the dense forests and abundant marinas of the Pacific Northwest, where the local trees watched her grow and the pebbles on the beaches know her secrets. Exploring this sense of connection with nature alongside the historical tensions that exist within society, and between the natural and modern worlds, are recurring themes in her art. She works primarily with historical cameras and processes, incorporating natural elements and collected items to embody the histories present in everything around us.
Lindsey studied photography and political economy at the Evergreen State College in Olympia, Washington, and received her diploma of black and white film photography at La Escuela Activa de Fotografía in Coyoacán, Mexico City. Her photographs have been featured for over five years in Olympia's progressive newspaper Works in Progress, and have appeared on the walls of the Art Forces Peacemaker Gallery in Olympia, as well as local cafés and pubs. She currently teaches photography at Youth in Focus in Seattle, Washington, and curates the monthly art exhibition at the Ridgecrest Public House in Shoreline.
